I'm the drummer in a band called Big Merino. We play original songs that blur the lines between blues, country, gospel and rock. We've been interviewed on Radio National and perform regularly, most recently at the Blue Mountains Music Festival. And no, we're not from Goulburn! My short story, The Green Ocean of Star Shaped Leaves, was included in Taste: Fresh New Writing, the 17th collection of works to come out of the Creative Writing program at the University of Technology Sydney. The foreword was written by author and academic Dr Cathy Cole, who writes "An anthology celebrates and unifies, offers insights into a world that may be different from our own, presents a ‘taste’ of life – a banquet which enriches and exhilarates."

The brief from the ABC's TV show Gruen Transfer was to sell urine as a drink. They didn't specify what kind of urine. After exploring a few angles for drinking human urine, we started to research the benefits of drinking animal urine. Then insect urine. Our idea won the pitch segment. One of the judges commented 'This could actually work!'
